The Pibox API connects Pibox to the rest of your toolchain: your asset management, delivery scripts, task trackers or a custom app. You can also connect an AI assistant such as Claude or Cursor to your Pibox projects through the Pibox MCP server. Both use the same personal API token.
What you can do with the API
Files and folders: upload files, import a file from a link, create folders, find files, get file info with media metadata and AI tags, move, copy, rename and delete files, get download links and list versions.
Review: set a file's status, read and leave comments, reply, resolve and export comments.
Projects and groups: create, rename, move and delete projects and groups, add or invite project members.
Teams: list your teams, invite members with a role (member, guest or admin), change roles and remove members.
Tasks: create tasks or load them from a template, update and delete them.
Project chat: read the chat history and send messages.
Metadata: read and set custom metadata fields, export metadata to XLSX.
Also: playlists, favorites, notifications and global search.
The full list of endpoints, with request and response examples, is in the Pibox API documentation. Endpoints in the v2 (Beta) section are new and may still change.
Webhooks
Webhooks let your system react to what happens in Pibox instead of polling. Create a webhook endpoint through the API and Pibox sends an event to your URL when:
a file is uploaded (file.uploaded)
a file is renamed (file.renamed)
a file's status changes (file.status_changed)
a task is closed (task.closed)
For example, when a file's status changes to Approved, your script can start the final delivery.

How to create an API token
Open Settings.
In the Developer section, choose API tokens.
Click Create token and give it a name you'll recognize later, for example "Delivery script" or "Claude on my laptop".
Click Copy token and store it somewhere safe, such as a password manager.
The token is shown only once. Pibox can't show it again. If you lose it, create a new one and revoke the old one.
A token acts on your account with your access, so treat it like a password: don't share it or commit it to code repositories.
To revoke a token, open Settings → API tokens, click the trash icon next to the token and confirm Revoke. Anything that uses this token stops working right away. This can't be undone.
Make your first request
Send the token in the Authorization header as a Bearer token. This request returns the list of your teams:
curl -X POST https://api.pibox.com/v1/account/teams/get_list \ -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
Apps that act on behalf of other Pibox users can use OAuth 2.0 (authorization code with PKCE) instead of a personal token. See the OAuth section of the documentation.
Connect an AI assistant (MCP)
The Pibox MCP server lets an AI assistant read and work with your files and projects.
Open Settings → API tokens and click Connect MCP.
Copy the MCP endpoint and pick your client: Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop or VS Code.
Copy the ready-made configuration and replace <YOUR_TOKEN> with your API token.
For example, in Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http pibox https://mcp.pibox.com/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
