One of the challenges of working collaboratively on a project is managing file versions. As the project progresses, different team members may change the same file, leading to confusion and potential errors. That's where Pibox's version tree comes in.

The version tree in Pibox is a feature that allows users to keep track of different file versions. Each time a project member uploads a new version of a file, they can add it to the existing version tree. Thus, users can easily compare different versions, restore previous versions, and collaborate on the latest version of a file.

There are several ways to add a new version of a file:

Method 1 - By Uploading a File:

  1. Click the add file button on the chat or files tab;

  2. Once you've chosen the file you want to upload, a pop-up window will appear. To add it as a version to an existing file, check the box next to "Add file as the version to". Next, click "Select file" to choose the file you want to attach the new version to. Finally, click the "Upload" button to complete the process.

Method 2 - use the specialized "Add version" button:

  1. On the files tab or within the file itself, click the "Add version" button;

  2. Upload a new file or select a file from those already uploaded;

  3. When the file is selected, you need to click on the "Add version" button, and this file will be attached as a version.

Using such methods, you will add a new version of the file.

๐Ÿ’กIf you have multiple file versions and want to compare them, you don't need to exit the current version and open a different one each time. Instead, you can click a special button to access all file versions. Select the version you want to open from there, and the system will automatically save the playback position when you switch the files.

Here are some tips for using the version tree on Pibox effectively:

  1. Name your versions clearly: When you create a new version, give it a clear and descriptive name that reflects the changes you made. This will help you and your team members quickly identify different versions of the file;

  2. Compare versions to give better feedback. Before you leave a comment, use the compare feature to see the differences between the versions. This will help you understand what changes were made and avoid leaving wrong feedback;

  3. Collaborate on the latest version: Make sure everyone is working on the newest version of the file to avoid conflicts and confusion. Pibox makes it easy to share files and collaborate in real time.

In conclusion, the version tree on Pibox is a powerful tool for managing file versions and ensuring smooth collaboration on projects. By following these tips, you can make the most of this feature and work more efficiently with your team.
